چکیده

Dercum disease, or adiposis dolorosa, is a rare disorder characterized by multiple painful lipomas distributed throughout the body. There are currently no approved treatments for disease and excision often not feasible due to tumor burden extent of disease. Here we present use deoxycholic acid (DCA) reduce size associated with Ultrasound was used obtain 3-dimensional measurements in three patients. Lesions were identified treatment patient radiology input based on larger size, troublesome symptoms, feasibility location (e.g. accessibility injection avoidance critical structures). Controls chosen similar criteria symmetry within body lesions pain left vs right forearm). Imaging repeated, tracking changes treated untreated volumes calculated. The had 34% (patient 1), 68% 2), 41% 2) 30% 3) decrease volume, while control 111% 22% 93% increase volume. results show that all DCA reduction volume controls increased Interestingly, repeat imaging lipoma 3 revealed an anechoic center, possibly highlighting cell death adipocytes response injected DCA. naturally found assists emulsifying solubilizing fats. While initially as method submental fat, it may be possible alternative modality individuals extensive who candidates surgical excision. Additional studies should conducted determine appropriate dosing side effect profile.

Neuropeptide levels in Dercum's disease (adiposis dolorosa).

Dercum's disease (adiposis dolorosa) is characterised by adiposity and chronic pain in the adipose tissue. It has been proposed that conditions encompassing chronic pain have altered concentrations of neuropeptides involved in pain transmission. The aim of this investigation was to examine whether patients with Dercum's disease have abnormal concentrations of different neuropeptides. In cerebro...

A rare cause of mastalgia: Dercum's disease (adiposis dolorosa).

Among the symptoms reported by patients undergoing breast imaging, pain is one of the most common. Mastalgia is generally classified as cyclic, noncyclic, or extramammary. A rare cause of breast pain is Dercum's disease, or adiposis dolorosa, a condition characterized by multiple, often painful subcutaneous lipomas. Painful breast lipomas have not been described in the literature so far. The di...

Pilot study: rapidly cycling hypobaric pressure improves pain after 5 days in adiposis dolorosa

Adiposis dolorosa (AD) is a rare disorder of painful nodular subcutaneous fat accompanied by fatigue, difficulty with weight loss, inflammation, increased fluid in adipose tissue (lipedema and lymphedema), and hyperalgesia. Sequential compression relieves lymphedema pain; we therefore hypothesized that whole body cyclic pneumatic hypobaric compression may relieve pain in AD. To avoid exacerbati...
